Maureen Deppman and Family

I have taught at Mt. Abe since 2004 as a Personalized Learning Teacher.  In 2011 the Horizon's Department merged with the Pathways Program to create a continuum of personalized offerings for students.  I am the teacher leader of the Personalized Learning Department.  I am an advisor specializing in the Personal Development & Self Awareness Competency.  I support student work in Independent Study, ILO Elective, DUO (teaching assistants), College Dual Enrollment, and Virtual High School (VHS).  I also manage Challenge Diploma, HOBY Youth Leadership, and Governor's Institutes.  I hold a MA degree in Educational Leadership (with K-12 Principal License) from University of Vermont, a Certificate in Management and Administration from Harvard University Extension School, and a BA degree in Human Development from Boston College.  I stay active by rowing, running, biking, skiing, and gardening.  I enjoy travelling with my children Jack and Lydia to beach locations or wherever Jack's favorite sports teams are playing.

Learning can happen anywhere!                                          Advising a student on using technology                                 Celebrating graduation day with a PL                                                                                                               to create evidence of learning.                                                    student!

Outside of the classroom I coach the Mt. Abe Rowing Club (MARC) with Ed and Mary McGuire, Bent Crum and  Nan Guilmette.  MARC is open to all students in grades 7-12.  We row in the Fall and Spring in beautiful long boats on Lake Champlain and Otter Creek.
